Summit View Senior Community, a small but
progressive assisted living community in Chattanooga Tennessee agreed to
let us review their telecommunications costs as a favor to ITS, as we
were interested in learning more about the telecom needs of such
facilities. They assured us that we would not find significant savings,
since their office phone services had just been upgraded. Although we
we did find some small savings opportunities related to their office
phones, they were in good shape overall. We then expanded our analysis
to look at resident phone service. They had elected to have all
residents contract directly with the local phone company for service,
since they did not have personnel available to manage phone services for
them. We showed them how by bringing in a small PC-based phone system,
they could improve resident service, cover the cost of an outside
company managing the system and resident phone services, and still save
money. It total, we found them savings totaling more than $36,000 per
year!
